In 2017, Dustin and Stephanie Taljaard threw in the towel on their urban life and headed for the country. They packed up their busy schedules, bid farewell to friends and the hustle and bustle of The Mother City and took a chance on a beautiful but dilapidated property, which they found just 4 kilometers outside of the quaint village of McGregor. A mere 2 hours from Cape Town! Their new life lay at the end of a dusty red road.
Red Earth Farm consisted of nothing more than a 1900’s, cob built barn, which yearned to be transformed into a rustic yet romantic, wedding venue. Now under construction for not only weddings, it will house functions, barn dances, specialty dinners and so much more.
Their small farm is also home to a gorgeous 1941, South African Railway Caboose carriage. The delightful little Caboose has been restored to within an inch of its original self and further converted into a luxury 4 sleeper accommodation for guests.
On the other side of the farm, the Taljaard’s have their own small equestrian development. Here, they offer livery to retired sport horses, riding lessons and beautiful relaxing outrides. The outrides take you onto the neighbouring working farms, surrounded by a valley of vineyards and stone fruit orchards.
Red Earth Farm not only has their own venue to host rustic country weddings, but they are the representatives for various other wedding venues in the area. Couples wishing to view different locations for their big day can book a nights stay at Red Earth Farm – inclusive of breakfast and enjoy a tour of 4 different and diverse wedding venues, all ranging in price and ratings.
